Make Shipping Easy, Affordable, and Reliable Selling your cricket gear on Second Dig is simple — and shipping it is too. Whether you’re sending a single bat or a full kit bag, here’s how to make sure your buyer gets their gear quickly and safely.

How to Add Shipping Costs to Your Listing

When you list your item, you’ll be asked whether you want to:

  • Offer local pickup (ideal for nearby buyers or bulky items), and/or
  • Add a shipping price

We always recommend adding both if possible, it's always great to help save your fellow players a few dollars in shipping fees, and building communities is what cricket is all about.

You can set any shipping fee you like — it’s completely separate from the sale price, so our 7% commission doesn’t apply to shipping costs.

Example: If you sell a bat for $200 and charge $20 shipping:

  • Commission is 7% of $200 = $14
  • You keep $206 total ($200 sale + $20 shipping − $14 fee)

How to Calculate Shipping

To estimate postage:

  1. Weigh and measure your packed item (bat box, gloves parcel, etc.).

  2. Visit the Australia Post Parcel Calculator or a similar service from your trusted shipping partner - it may pay to shop around to see what the best option for you is, especially if you're selling a few items.

  3. Enter the dimensions and possible destination postcode to find your price. Choose a location far from you to make sure you cover shipping anywhere in the country.

  4. Round up slightly to cover packaging materials if needed.

Other reliable couriers include Sendle, Fastway/Aramex, Pack & Send and so many more — each offers online quote tools, so shop around to see what's the best option for you.

Packaging Tips

  • Use bat boxes or padded mailers for bats and pads.
  • Wrap delicate gear (like helmets) in bubble wrap.
  • Label clearly and include the buyer’s name and order reference.
  • Always keep your tracking number and share it with the buyer through your dashboard.

Local Pickup Option

If your buyer is nearby, you can offer in-person pickup to save on postage. Use the in-app messaging to agree on a safe, convenient location — ideally at a club or public space.
